Mopar fans no longer have to buy a Dodge Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcat in order to experience the V8 itself. Instead, they can buy the 707-hp Hellcat V8 as a crate engine. FCA has officially debuted the Hellcat crate engine at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, but we all know what buyers will be getting: awesomeness in a box.

And if you’re particularly adventurous, Dodge also has what’s called the Hellcrate, a kit designed for cars built before 1976. Yes, that means you can drop a Hellcat under the hood of a classic Mopar.

This kit includes a power control module, power distribution center, engine wiring harness, chassis harness, accelerator pedal, ground jumper, oxygen sensors, charge air temperature sensors, and a fuel pump control module. Not surprisingly, Mopar did just that to a 1970 Plymouth Superbird “tribute” car, built by Graveyard Carz and which is also on display in Vegas.

The engine also comes has an optional front-end accessory drive kit that includes an alternator, power steering pump, belts, pulleys and more. Of course, the engine itself is pre-programmed with 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. So, how much does 707 hp cost?

It’s not exactly cheap but we doubt Mopar will have any trouble moving them at $19,530 apiece. The Hellcrate engine kit costs an additional $2,195 but the $21,725 you could wind up spending does come with a three-year warranty. Source
